It expands the concept of sign to include anything which can be observed using the five senses and that extra sense, often referred to as gut feel. It also identifies qualities of a tracker and describes how these attributes can be exercised and honed to improve the level of tracking ability. Principles of good tracking technique are discussed in depth. We then move on to learning how to identify African mammal tracks and discover the distinguishing characteristics of the different ?spoor? types. Scat (droppings) identification is an extremely useful sign which can help to identify species and also give an accurate estimate of time frames. Scat analysis can provide valuable information as to the physiological state of an animal and also provide reliable insights into its diet. These aspects are adequately dealt with. Finally we look at how fluid signs such as cud, blood, urine, saliva etc. can be interpreted to give an accurate estimate of the age of sign.Ships from Cape Town, SA by surface mail only.
